1/19/21 travel day

spent last night in the capital of new mexico: santa fe !! did some thrifting and shopping for some essentials ( dope new jacket and headlamps ) andddd tried huevos rancheros for the first time. very messy but the best breakfast food ever... eggs and beans covered in mexican sauce = vegetarians dream

then we started to make our way up towards utah when we saw signs on the high way for chaco canyon. i vividly remember learning about the chacoan people in history class in junior high and thinking about how epic it would be to see their ruins, so we had to stop to explore. the ruins were insane. the natural colors of each structure blended so beautifully with the canyon that surrounded them. a great reminder of how simply people used to live as they were truly a part of their environment. may have gotten a ticket from the park ranger for climbing the ruins and leaving the path to look at petroglyphs but it happens to the best of us 🥲

left the park around sunset and after a few changes of plans, lots of car salad, mycology class lectures, and a 5 hour drive we ended up in a beautiful canyon in moab for the night
